"Esther Dresses in Divinity"
Continuously screened, March 13 -June 2, 2024, for the duration of The Doe of Dawn exhibit at the Bible Lands Museum, Jerusalem, Israel. The film accompanied the participatory installation, “Esther’s Throne.”
We shot “Esther Dresses in Divinity” from sunrise to sunset on October 5, 2023, in the Jaffa market. It was the end of an era and we could feel it in the air. The Doe of Dawn, Ayelet HaShachar, appeared to usher in a new era.
With the assistance of filmmaker Dan W. Wasserman, curator, Rachel Verliebter, and director, Bettina Fainstein, Alana Ruben Free wrote, created and performed this mystical and imaginative meeting of the Ayelet HaShachar (Doe of Dawn), Queen Esther and Mordechai.
